Since 2023 the Legislature has eased armed licensing for retired peace officers, reclassified false statements on license applications as a Class D1 felony, and passed a consumer data privacy law that takes effect January 1, 2027.

## Forensic Ledger

Oklahoma has no forensic science commission or analyst license, but it requires government forensic labs to be accredited and bars unaccredited prosecution evidence. Since 2023 the State has adopted the 2023 federal wording of Rule 702, set up a rapid DNA program for crime scene samples, let district attorneys move to vacate wrongful convictions at any time, and created an OSBI unit for digital forensics. Wider discovery of lab records starts November 1, 2026.
